“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police … yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home — all the more powerful because…

Upon a poem

Jane Dougherty Writes

For the NaPoWriMo prompt.

When we write a thing

of joy or grief

a falling leaf

an absence beneath

the roof

the way the light plays

on still water and water rippling

insect-stippling

or the slashed

cross-hatched rain

across the window again

when we write the words of you and me

we

the cat lying in the sun

an unknown whose life is done

when we write the song of birds

and lamentations near and far

they are

poems.

Role Model

I Write Her

dddd

Some people have said that they look up to me. Please don’t. I’m just as human as you are. I have failings. I have failed. But I keep moving forward. At times, it’s just small steps. Eventually, I get where I want to go. This works for me, helps to better me. It doesn’t make me out to be something special, just facilitates my self-improvement.

It’s something you can do too.

No Greater Love…

Come and enjoy Dwight’s – No Greater Love

Roth Poetry

synagog where shooting took place (2)

Yesterday we heard of another shooting in a Jewish place of worship in San Diego, California. One of the women there stepped in front of the gunman and took the bullets protecting her rabbi who was helping children escape. It is so sad that we still have not learned to live in harmony with one another. When will we ever learn?

No Greater Love
Than to give one’s life
So that another might live
No greater cowardice than
Taking the life of
Men women and children
In their place of worship
Hate destroys the soul of society
Love overcomes standing up to hate
Often at great personal sacrifice
Love wins in the end…
Love is of God

Smile!

Vintage Sapience

Just smile.

Everyday!

Sounds simple. And yet we forget to do that for ourselves. It is the little things that can turn your day around. And a smile, for yourself, could turn out to be one of the most positive things you do. And the ability to smile through troubles or life makes you a stronger, happier person. Have a great day, everyone!
