They Do

Recovering My Mind: Poetry and Rock Music

Memories don’t pester me

But they do render speechless

A mind that hopes to forget

The inconsolable pain of being forgotten

Alone in the past, present, and future

These words are my wounds

Tears my sutures

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the mind

To just quit on life

Every suicidal thought birthed a greater desire

To prove to my mind that I could do

The impossible

And, forgive me

If you can

For trying to make myself better without you

I guess, after the umpteenth failed attempt

It was realized that I didn’t need your drug

No stimulus needed, just open my third eye

Just keep breathing

find my way through time

Love Do’s and Dont’s

real-lifepoetryblog

Love should not fit perfectly

like it’s a shoe.

It should roll in like a tidal wave

gaining strength with every wave

that comes on through.

Love is not perfect but

it does not want to place blame.

Love should never cause one

to ever bow their head in shame.

Love does not choose to

purposely harm another.

Love will never steal or take

from the arms of it’s lover.

Love will always stay strong

despite the things at hand.

That love will hold true if your

any kind of man.

Love will always provide comfort

and will help to see you through.

Love will still be there in the end

no matter what it is you may

have had to do.

Love will be understanding about

the things in life that may come

to pass.

Love will not hurt you and

then try to knock you on your ass.

Possible

Now
after so long
it seemed possible
and in proximity
as we were
alone
close
my hand reached out for yours
a risk to break the impasse
of tenterhooks and butterflies,
awaiting reception
or, God forbid
a retraction, no
and as I turned
you leaned in,
and our hearts
were in our eyes.

7 Ways To Help Your Kids Embrace Kindness - By Lucy Martial

For many years, it has been thought that children are born to be altruistic.

The theory was that children quickly realize that being kind gets them what they want. They then understand the correlation between kindness and praise. Finally, they begin to recognize the signs of when others need help and enjoy the sense of reward that they get from helping.

However, a recent study by researchers at Stanford University has suggested that this may not be the case. They claim that, instead of being a natural instinct, kindness is formed by social and parental relationships.

So, where does this leave us? Whatever you believe, there is no doubt that a parent’s influence shapes their children’s attitudes. Here are seven simple things that you can do for your child to help them embrace a kinder outlook in life.

  1. Be aware of your actions

You are your child’s ultimate role…

One Year Ago Today: Undone

Brave & Reckless

my quiet stretches out
like a web of shadow
words unsaid
black diamonds
that glitter on delicate strands of moonlight
shining through frosted windows

I kneel
naked
vulnerable
in the shadows cast by candle flame
I am undone
brought low

I have no language
to express need
no words
to beg for comfort
only silent tears
averted eyes
aching heart
weary head
fists clenched
to mask the shaking

have you learned me
enough
to understand
that tonight
the first move is yours to make
that you must be the strong one?

Read Every day and Write Every day!

This advice is certainly not original to me; many writers have made this suggestion before. I want, however, to emphasize its importance to all authors:

Write every day, and read every day.

Earth Day

Confab With Me

When I will plant a tree,
water a plant,
recycle,
reuse,

practice and teach others about conservation,
setting examples for others,
that day I will proudly wear the badge
to truly celebrate Earth Day
