NO LONGER A HOME

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The House Is Still Standing
It’s Not Been Abandoned
Or Allowed To Run Down
Still In Good Repair

But It’s No Longer Home
To Those Who Lived There
Old Memories Only
From Moments Remain
Absorbed Into Walls,
The Floors And The Ceilings, Too

The Hearts And Lives
Of Those Who Made It Home
Have Departed
To The Great Beyond
Or Somewhere Far Away

It Used To Be Home

For Them But Now,
It’s Just A House,
On A Lot, In A Town,
That Belongs To Someone Else

I Hope There Are Happy Memories
Being Made Inside These Days
So That The Old House Can
Once Again Become A Happy Home
For Someone Else’s Heart
