Pieces of April….

Pieces of April….

My dreamland beauty, she comes to my mind in early April.

The cold of Winter almost gone and I remember our Spring time kisses,

our Spring time dances with Lake Michigan.

I loved when she was careless and wild.

She made me brave and foolish.

I called her my wildflower and she called me.

Her soldier boy who loved war more than her.

We would buy some beer and go to the Iron Mountain Mountain dump,

we would watch the bears at midnight and we would go to the Wisconsin river.

She would run into the cold river in bra and panties. She would laugh at the moon and the stars.

She made me smile and so happy.

I told her, she was my April dream,

my May blessing.

My Springtime wish and I will love you forever.

Now kind April is here,

the warm sun is…

A wild bird…

johncoyote

 A wild bird….

I saw the fear in her eyes.
She told me that “I love you.
I need you.”

But I’m afraid.
Afraid of losing myself in a emotion
where I won’t be able to escape.

A wild bird can’t be captured.
A wild bird may forget the freedom it once had.
But in dreams will fly free and have no walls to lock them in.

I heard her crying at night.
She was swimming in a sweet love
and dreaming of flying away.
Twisting up her dreams and heart.

A wild bird will slowly die.
One day.
The wildness in the eyes of the wild bird will be gone.

She will quit talking of life and great dreams.
Her laughter will fade away.
Her spirit of life will be lost in the gentle breezes.

I tried to motivate my love.
I took her to the sea, the mountains…

Two out of three, ain’t bad.

johncoyote

Two out of three, ain’t bad.

A Poem byCoyote Poetry

" Lonely are the people who wasted love and friendship. "

(Johnnie in Monterey in 1991)

Two out of three ain’t bad….

I was sitting alone in a Austin tavern in 1996.
Drinking long Island ice teas.
Trying to get blinded.

A old man dressed poorly ordered a water.
Bartender gave him a bad look and walked away.
I told the bartender.

“Give the old man what he wants.”

The old man smiled.

Told the bartender.

“Same as my new friend.”

He drank the Long Island ice tea quickly.
I ordered him another.
He thanks me.
Asked me. “Was I alright?”

I told him.
Not too good.
But I will be fine.

He touched my back.
Told me.
“You got two out of three.
Better then most of us.”

He looked outside to the cold rainy night.
Told me.
“All three are…

Sweet whispers…

johncoyote

  Sweet whispers….

The voice of leonard Cohen singing in the background.

I read words from a beautiful woman.
Sweet offering of love and emotion.

I know women are gifts to a wise man.
Passionate kisses and long embraces are like wine.
Become better with time.

Doors of love open slowly for men willing to see and feel.

She teases me with sweet words.
Creating visions of a beautiful woman undressing for me.
Dancing in the light of Lady midnight.

I whisper I need to see you naked. I need you wild.
The night is long and in the heat of the dance.
Let’s surrender our wall of fear and disappointment.

Allow my hands to caress your soft skin.
Slowly digest your body from feet to sweet lips.

Her temptation are like sweet whispers to awaken my tired soul
in the loneliness of darkness.
She awakes my dreams and imagination.

Weeks 8 and 7

Julia Bloom

Still getting in the groove of writing and recording a song each week while now working a day job every weekday. This week I started several song ideas and just couldn’t land anything I was happy with, so I turned to my list of poems I’d like to songify, and this one by Emily Dickinson fit the bill. I think it’s the third of hers I’ve set to music now.

Also, I didn’t post yet about last week’s song, so here it is below. The suggested prompt was “kaleidoscope dreams” and I had fun writing a short rompy song with it, but probably nothing I’ll ever do much more with.
