A niggly little pain
hardly anything at all
shifting here and there
reminding me to be grateful
of health, which sometimes
slides away.
There is magic to gratitude.
How it sweetens the day. I
count my blessings one-by-one
until I find the peace I need,
sigh with contentment and
thank the niggly little pain
for reminding me once again
of the power of gratefulness,
a catalyst for a life well lived.
Life is not fair;
people often lie
Neither are reasons
for me to lose my integrity
I am not a chameleon
changing to be like
my surroundungs, unless,
of course, I surround
myself with love, light,
and compassion…and those
who do the same.
