Daylight Comes Slowly

Walt's Writings

Daylight Comes Slowly

As our bodies age our needs change
especially our sleep patterns
we start to fall asleep earlier
and wake up even earlier

our medications
make us drowsy
during the day

when we wake up
at 3:30 or 4:00 AM
daylight comes slowly
especially during the fall and winter

the aches and pains
that come with age
keep us awake
adding to our fatigue

our days are shorter
and our nights are longer
eventually daylight comes
and the cycle begins again
