Aftermath – #poetry #moon #night

Night Owl Poetry - Dorinda Duclos

Child of darkness, an endless plight
Carry your sadness, into the night

Moon shines down, a trodden path
Nothing is left, in the aftermath

Lift up your head, here, do abide
Safety awaits you, by my side

Through the forest, trees will guide
Wiping away, the tears you’ve cried

Limbs extend, to grasp, to hold
Gentle hugs, around you, fold

Heed their warmth, brave the cold
September, leaves your spirit old

October comes, the midnight hour
This, is when my light, will tower

Over your journey, feel the power
So full, there is no need to cower

Rise up, and let me bring you home
Together, through the dark, we roam

Fear nothing, while I am in your sight
Follow me, closely, no need for flight

Sleep, while morning shines her sun
Then seek me out, when day is done

Who took autumn? ~ #poetry

Night Owl Poetry - Dorinda Duclos

Dear sweet autumn
Where have you gone?
Someone came
And took you away
Though leaves are turning
But, my heart’s still yearning
Winter’s come
And I think it’s to stay

Frost on the ground
In the early morn
Green grass is long gone
Turned, shades of brown
And the sky is so gray
On this cool October day
I need to smile, turn
My frown upside down

November is coming
How quickly, it seems
Counting days
Til the colors have left
Pictures taken, a few
It’s what I needed to do
To keep my heart
From feeling bereft

And I’ll count the days, in so many ways
Until her beauty returns, once again
I’ll wait by the door, of this I am sure
Pray my autumn, this time, will remain

Follow the Path ~ #poetry

Night Owl Poetry - Dorinda Duclos

I followed the curve of a winding road, not knowing where I was going. The subtle breeze that sent a chill, let me know, the wind was blowing. I brushed away the strands of hair, which fell across my face. Wandered down the sandy path which led me to this place. Stopping for a moment, I felt a rush, much colder than before. I heard water splashing, in the distance, as it lapped against the shore. The road twisted on, unending, as the path grew longer still. I didn’t think I’d make it, but it gave me such a thrill. So journey on, I must, to find what there may be. It’s waiting for me, patiently.  I call it destiny.
