Down The River

Walt's Writings

There are stories to be told
As you travel down the river
Tales of men who lived
Tales of men who died
Times were hard
Men were harder
Men were killed
And men survived
Legends were born
Like Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn
Heroes were made
Like Davy Crockett
Rivers gave life
But could take it away
Men made a living
By working a river
Like a card shark on a riverboat
Water for crops
Water for power
Both provided by a river
When you grow up on a river
It stays with you always
The river flows through you
Guiding you through life
I’ve lived on many rivers
Each one became a part
Of the man I am today
