I need to light that cigarette

Because there’s a smile behind the smoke

With the colours of your eyes the sunset the colour of your blouse

The afternoon in a land of mountains and meadows

The cigarette a word

An unclear exchange

Like your name or the name of an unknown flower

I’m frightful of such abandonment in the vernacular

The forgotten forest at the bottom of the valley

The weeds at the side of the road

Within my soul guilelessly growing

Beyond the stormy afternoon

In the days full of fog


But if the cigarette turned into rejection

The smoke is a purple sadness

As the afternoon follow you to the other side of the hill

Along with the smile

Never fallen as there’s stars upon the horizon

Behind the lonely trees like…
