Writing Life Backwards

Roth Poetry

All you have to do is write one true sentence.
Write the truest sentence that you know.
― Ernest Hemingway

They call it the big dip

Some themid-life crisis”

Nest is empty

Chicks have flown

“What do we do now?”

So hard beginning backwards

Rewriting our life

Together or separate

Working back to love

(Put aside for the cause)

Finding that “bird” has flown;

But, it can be done

Counselors can help

The spark renewed

And life moves forward once more

Lisa at d’Verse, gave us several lines from Earnest Hemingways writings and asked us to write a poem inspired by one them. I chose: It is very hard to write this way, beginning things backward…
–The Torrents of Spring (1926) by Earnest Hemingway.

Mid-life brings with it many challenges. Many crash and burn at this stage of life. Others rethink life…

Blessed be the lovers

johncoyote

 Blessed be the lovers…

Sweet bliss of the sweet kiss. Kind lovers rejoice in the tender touch of skin to soft skin.
Where lovers roam into wild and dangerous places. Fugitives for the revisits of the dances of true passion
and blind journey into forbidding places where dreamers and Poets will recite praise and gratitude
till the end of their days.

I watched my lover get undressed and I closed my eyes. I can’t believe I’m back in the arms of my sweet love.
She broke my heart once. Now I behold her nude body. She danced in the room, gave me a sweet smile and a kind wink. She asked me. “Am I as beautiful as the young girl who came to you in Ann Arbor?” I told her she was more beautiful than anything these old eyes had seen.

She came to me. She fell into my arms…

The Purgatory Inn part two

The Purgatory Inn part two

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"I needed a night at the Purgatory Inn."

                                    The Purgatory Inn -part two

On the wall of the Purgatory inn behind the bar. A wooden picture with true words. “Words with no actions are meaningless.”

Many people at the Purgatory Inn. A chess board on every table and a large book shelf to the left of the bar. Loaded with ancient and new books.. I was reading “When Gods laugh” waiting for a new friend and chess game.
I got lucky tonight. The place was full and Mark Twain entered. He saw my empty seat and bottle of whiskey with a empty glass in front. Mark Twain asked could he join me. The seat was empty and the whiskey looked lonely. I told him. It would be my honor. He laughed at me and told me. There is…

The Chelsea Hotel…

The Chelsea hotel

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"I went to New York a few times. I stayed in the Park and wrote poetry in the day and drank in the dark taverns at night. I like the feel of the city."

                 The Chelsea hotel….

Leonard Cohen words and song took me to the Chelsea motel before I arrived in the city of New York many times over. I yearn to find the places Cohen and Janis Joplin talks and drank. I have learn in my short life. No saint or angels in the New York city bars and you must want to be saved. To be saved.

I carried my writing journal, the Norton Anthology of English Literature (1942) and held my hot coffee. I sat in the park near the main fountain in the Summer of 1980. The old men were placing chess and many people…

Happy Times

Confab With Me

Her swarthy eyes sparkled with a shine, and though she chose not to say a word, her eyes possessed the clairvoyant views of their reverberating future times
