Three fingers of the Johnnie Walker..

johncoyote

Three fingers of the Johnnie Walker.

He went back to Aberdeenshire in the Fall of his life. He found a place to drink and to watch the sea. He wrote in his notebook. Only the good die young and I am too old to die young. I lived a soldier life and mistress love wasn’t my blessing.

The poet requested three fingers of the Johnnie Walker whiskey. It was early Springtime in Scotland and he remembered his April love who was far away from his life and her thoughts. She was a auburn hair Scottish gal with rose-colored cheeks and a smile of gold. She became his Bonny Lass in the early Spring of 1988 and she left him in the cold days of Winter. He remembered she would seek the wildflowers field. She would dance barefoot and she would laugh. She loved when the sea kissed her feet and…

Tell me again how God is good.

end of line.

Edward Hopper

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.

T.S. Eliot, Burnt Norton.

Those who say, “It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all” are sociopaths. Losing love — real love — is earth-shattering. It turns you in upon yourself — “What did I do to make them leave? To pull away? To let me go?” — regardless of circumstance or timing or logic. Allowing someone into your life is scary. For those of us who have been betrayed deeply by those who were supposed to keep us safe, it is paralyzing. We fight it. We sabotage it. We push back hard against it…

The poet, the dancer and the artist.

The poet, the dancer and the artist.

A Story byCoyote Poetry
"

June poetry number seventeen.

"                    The poet, the dancer and the artist…

It was last warm days of Summer, the late August warm days were appreciated. Two men and one woman are drinking their coffee near the Port Austin Lake Huron boardwalk. For two months, the three would meet and discuss the daily activities and the coming days. They shared long conversation of what was and what could be?  The artist Sheena  asked Paul, the dancer. Will you seek work in the Fall or become more lazy and fatter?  The poet Johnnie laughed at her words and he asked Paul. Is there racism against fat dancers? Sheena and Johnnie laughed as Paul gave them a sour look. Paul told them. Do you believe God had blessed you poets and…

Think Twice

Confab With Me

Harness your listening skills,

chisel the habit
of absorbing thoughts,

ponder often,

take time to rationalize opinions
that sit firmly
in the corner of your heart,

for forming prejudice is easy,
steering your mindset
to righteousness path
is a difficult task

Dreams

Confab With Me

The desires are many, so are the dreams, then why there is a dearth in conjuring the will. Shade off that lackluster approach that impedes you from working hard

If I would have?

Confab With Me

If I would have known
it was now or never
when that summer evening
when your tresses were brushing
against my visage
and the fragrance of your smile
was soothing my being

If I would have known
those moments would defy me
time when I was adrift
floating in the skies
you caressing every thought
in that trice that
I ever envisaged

If I would have known
this would never stay forever
the moments when
the sun
the moon
the stars
the novas
how they were in tandem
just because you carried
that desirous smile

I would have held you a tighter,
kept you with me forever
or maybe coerce the nature
to froze the time

for now you are not around
yet all those moments
they come visit me
and I see them every moment
with open eyes
making me delirious
and I hopelessly hope
that you will

For Shelby – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

flashlight batteries - Ali Grimshaw

"All you have to do is write one true sentence.
Write the truest sentence that you know."
― Ernest Hemingway

round and wound snugly tight
we wrapped you
with pockets of air
to let the cold hurt breathe
before exhaling it with the laughter

each small stitch a holding
of our unraveled hearts
circled colors hitched secure
with homemade memory patterns
our shared stories under stars

love appliqued for the winter months
loops small and strong to hold your weight in the wind
to keep your dreams collectively connected
securely anointed with our goodbye tears
tucked in tight for all nights

you are not alone
will never be left
inside this handwoven
circle of arms

inside each departing hand
a yarn of length kept warm
to remember you
in tomorrow's pocket

Three Line Tale #44: Without light…

My Random Ramblings

Even rainbows need light to come alive and be seen

Without light, colours lose their identity

Even peacocks seem rather ordinary under the veil of darkness!

Colours make all the difference in life. And light enables those of us blessed with the gift of sight to appreciate it. The world would be a very dull place without colours and light. What do you think?

This post was written in response to the Three Line Tales, Week 281 prompt by Sonya. Thanks to Sonya for hosting this challenge. If you want to participate, please visit the link for instructions and other guidelines!

For the visually challenged readers, the image shows the shadowed figures of two peacocks that seem to be perched atop a building.
