By Lê Vĩnh Tài, translated by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm
How should one savour a woman?
Will you let her near you
breathe on your skin?
Or do you prefer the gradual
curious unravelling deception
of the daily horoscope?
Do you have faith in the wet damp softness
steeped in mint?
Or are you afraid of the odour and taste
of her sweat?
Would you let your fingers
linger there in the mess
Or is she like the summer
the hot rain on your flesh?
She is all encompassing
the dust, the wind
she is love and hate
hope and despair
As you relished in such delight
Would you bother to ask a stranger like me:
– how should one savour a woman?
Làm thế nào bạn nếm một người phụ nữ?
