burning alive (a poem)

Come and Read This!

the wretched thing inside you
writhing, pulsating, mindless
desiring what it cannot have
useless, pointless, impotent
pray to me, i am Goddess of the Unrequited
forfeit your desires since day and night
my body burns without relief, heart remains untouched
an experience not for the faint or weak-kneed
all promises unfulfilled will find their home
leave your dreams of another at my feet and
walk away lighter than you arrived
i am rooted, burning alive for what you could not have
