Hydrogen peroxide is the simplest peroxide (a chemical with an oxygen–oxygen single bond). It is a colorless liquid at room temperature. Small amounts of gaseous hydrogen peroxide occur naturally in the air, but it is unstable and decomposes readily to oxygen and water with release of heat. Hydrogen peroxide is used as a chemical intermediate, as a bleaching agent in the paper and textile and pulp industry, and in water treatment operations.

- Remove sweat stains – Place mixture of 1 part dishwashing liquid and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide on affected area for 1 hour.
- Remove blood stains – Pour directly onto stain and let sit for 5 minutes before blotting and rinsing in cold water.
- Clean kitchen sponge – Let sponge soak in bowl of equal parts warm water and hydrogen peroxide for 15 minutes before rinsing.
