Morning Glory

That morning,

You were shining

Particularly bright,

As if bestowing upon me

Jewels from our every night.

As I held you close,

I wished

You’d stay.

As I kissed you,

I wished

We’d not gone astray.

You, my darling,

Had filled my heart with thee,

You, my Morning Glory,

Yours, I thought,

I shall forever be.

Your voice is fading now,

As your goodbye rings in me;

Your touch is fraying now,

As your breath leaves the last of me.
