I’m elated to share the news of the publication of my homage poem for Ahmaud Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old black man who was pursued and fatally shot while jogging near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia, “An Act of Self Defense” published in the coveted Canadian journal Subterranean Blue PoetryImmensely thankful to the Poetry Editor Rebecca Ann Banks for supporting my creative work and giving it a space in such an esteemed journal. I’m absolutely blessed to share the space in this edition with the  First African American Woman Pulitzer Winner in Poetry, Gwendolyn Brookes as the featured poet.
