The first hint of a romance

paeansunpluggedblog

Your unwavering gaze on me

leaves me flustered and unnerved

I drop the book and stop mid-guffaw

and though I am not the blushing kind

I feel heat travelling up my neck

confused and tongue-tied, I look away

but a sidelong glance finds

you are still looking my way

a half smile hovering in the vicinity of your lips

a dark lock of hair across your twinkling eyes

eyes that echo my feelings

and I swear my heart somersaults

for it is not a fantasy but for real

it seems I am in luck

as the passion seems to be lit both ways

you say something to others nonchalantly

but the roar in my ears is loud and drowns your voice

I breathe in shallow bursts

feeling chilly and hot by turns

none of our friends notice anything

with trembling fingers I gather my books

hugging them to my errant…

Unfolding Love – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

flashlight batteries - Ali Grimshaw

By knowing you,
I see myself in bloom
now and 90 years wrinkled.
My doubts don’t exist in your eyes.
You see the chipped edges
scars of failed attempts
places worn raw
as my earned beauty.
You hold the rough
abeyant curves of my puzzle
like a treasures.
You saw my essence of spirit
gently holding it all up,
a mirror before me,
until I could see,
for myself,
who I am becoming.

A “Chemistry and Magic” Poem and Two Limericks

Poet's Corner

I was recently reading an article on computer dating and it was about what people are looking for. There are many things – security, friendship, companionship, acceptance, a soul mate and other similar things. A Woman’s Computer Dating Disclaimer Limerick

Poet's Corner

e-dating
Thinking about this on Valentine’s Day.

Dating is daunting, especially now with the pandemic making the “meet and greet” a bad option for those staying safe with the Best Practices to not contract nor spread the virus. Computer dating has proven results. People do find love and get married.

The Dream Jewel – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

“Love will find a way through paths where wolves fear to prey.” Lord Byron.

The Dream Jewel

Where is the jewel I dreamt
in this sea of ordinary stones,
where shines the emerald, the
ruby, on this dusty plain,
I searched everywhere and I
looked long and hard down
lanes and valleys, hoping for
some seeker's sign to point me
on my way, until that day, a
perfect day, a glint shone
through the melancholic dust,
the most precious jewel I'd
ever seen, she held me in
her beauty, a beauty deeper
than the eye perceived.
