Heartbreak

Kim V. Poetry

I’m miss the late night conversations.

With too many glasses of wine and the impromptu dance parties.

I miss the movie nights on the couch.

Pajamas and cuddles.

Popcorn topped with M&Ms.

You asleep on my lap before the movie gets good.

I miss the kisses on the top of my head, as you walk by, while I type.

And the long weekend drives, going nowhere.

I miss your loud laughs and the stupid way you fold your shirts.

I even miss the fights.

The ones in the driveway,

With you always pretending to leave.

Until the one day you did.

It’s quiet here.

Empty in our home

Lying here in this bed

Alone.

It hurts,

but I get it now.

So here’s me,

letting you go.
