The Key – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

The Key
Sun kissed
petals undone
you opened in the warmth
and rejoiced
moist,
glassy,
smooth and
sweetly perfumed,
unfurling before me,
raw, naked,
beautiful,
my tender caress
the key.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – Break the glass
“Break the glass, please, and free us from all these damned rules, from needing to find an explanation for everything, from doing only what others approve of.”
―Paulo Coelho,By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept
I shared a shortened version of this quote in my recent post, Book Review: By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept by PauloCoelho. I love the simplicity and the reality of this line, and it is something that strikes a chord within me. I hope we all find courage in our hearts to be who we are, do what we want, and go wherever we want to be. Carpe diem!
Indulging Conjecture
Come enjoy Holly’s beautiful poem!!!
Pink sand pulls away
from the glistening shore
melting fondant in the
sticky heat
Minute ecosystems inhabit
tiny grottoes in tide pools
of wet sand
Some days I stroll the coast alone
escaping into secret realms of lovers
where there is no logic but
an aching crush I hold to my breast
a passage betweena heart and the
mountains where I left you
Allow me to come undone beneath
tender hands on eggshell
the gentle quake of a sigh upon your
unshaven cheek
Let me drown in the green river of
your eyes where there
is no threat of war hard silence
or the burden of forgiveness

I wrote a Haiku the other day about a hawk circling in the sky and searching for his food. It is a common sight for me as I live by a lake.
The 2020 Daily Writing Challenge – October 21
Writing is like driving at night in the fog.
You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
– E. L. Doctorow
Today is Day 295 of the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge.
Did you write yesterday? Half of the year is in our rear-view mirror, and I am drawing a line in the sand. The targets I missed, the stories I didn’t compose, they no longer matter. These last six months are history. Done. I won’t lie, 2020 kicked me in the head, leaving me stunned, unsteady, and incapable of completing anything beyond basic tasks. I bet I am not alone, but don’t count me out yet. They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? I am confident I will discover I am more capable than I have ever been. I dug deep, reevaluated my annual goals, and I decided…
