Poetry Book Release!

Smell The Coffee

I’m so excited to announce the release of my latest poetry book. It’s definitely not a chapbook- with its 65 poems!

The Blurb:

This poetry collection is observational and inspirational, challenging the reader to contemplate life, death, passion, and adversity. Race is not left out, as history is revisited with violence, and conciliation embraced. Time does not follow its usual trajectory in 2020; it passes and moves with breathtaking difference here.

The 2020 Daily Writing Challenge – September 12

Jo Hawk

2020 Daily Writing Challenge

Writing is like driving at night in the fog.
You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
– E. L. Doctorow

Today is Day 256 of the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge.

Did you write yesterday? Half of the year is in our rear-view mirror, and I am drawing a line in the sand. The targets I missed, the stories I didn’t compose, they no longer matter. These last six months are history. Done. I won’t lie, 2020 kicked me in the head, leaving me stunned, unsteady, and incapable of completing anything beyond basic tasks. I bet I am not alone, but don’t count me out yet. They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? I am confident I will discover I am more capable than I have ever been. Your Next Steps Are Clear When You Listen to Your Heart – Daily Quote

Jo Hawk

The advice to do whatever comes next sounds easy, but it may be easier said than done. Life is complex and ever-changing, never static, or simple. Do you lack information? Or are you afraid of taking the first steps and committing to your project? The way forward calls for clarity of your intentions and motivations. Consult with others, a mentor…

When the Heavens Explode

Charmed Chaos

“We all shine on…like the moon and the stars and the sun…we all shine on…come on and on and on…”
john lennon

I heard the stars singing last night, an ancient lullaby
sharing their mystical wisdom from high in the nightwind sky

They sang to me their sorrow of man’s refusal to believe
how his actions are harming the earth, and the universe we see

For every action has a reaction like dominoes tumbling down
when you set one in motion, yes the world will still turn around

But the deepest question my friends we should all be thinking of
Will we be around to see it when the heavens explode above?

Author’s Note: A poem from last year. I have been dealing with internet problems all morning.
