Stars And Hearts

Sarah Doughty

“Can’t you see that I’m standing
beside you with my heart in my hands?”

Can you see how even the trees lift their branches just a little higher, as if to catch a fallen star at the sound of your voice? Can you see how the wind only intensifies the tingles running up my spine when I see you smile and blush at the same time? How can you not see the adoration of the sun, when it shines across your face and illuminates the depths in your eyes? Or how drops of water from the rain trace the curves of your skin leaving behind trails of hope in their wake? I see it. And I wish you could see me. I wish you could see that I am more than the world around us and I’m holding my heart out for you.

Kitchen-Before & After

Penny Wilson Writes

I promised Before and After pictures of my kitchen painting project.  So here they are.  If you can’t tell, the dark blue was the Before color and the sunny yellow is the After color.  I just love it.  The whole process was much harder that I realized it was going to be just because of a few unforeseen incidents.  Also there is the fact that this 63 year old body is not used to spending a lot of time on a ladder.  I forgot how much hard work painting is!!

There are still a few things that are needed to complete the look.  I have blinds and a new ceiling light fixture on order.  So those will be put into place.  Eventually I will change the look of the counter tops and backsplash.  But that will be another time.

I’ve always thought that a kitchen should be light and bright. …

The 2020 Daily Writing Challenge – September 8

Jo Hawk

2020 Daily Writing Challenge

Writing is like driving at night in the fog.
You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
– E. L. Doctorow

Today is Day 252 of the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge.

Did you write yesterday? Half of the year is in our rear-view mirror, and I am drawing a line in the sand. The targets I missed, the stories I didn’t compose, they no longer matter. These last six months are history. Done. I won’t lie, 2020 kicked me in the head, leaving me stunned, unsteady, and incapable of completing anything beyond basic tasks. I bet I am not alone, but don’t count me out yet. They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? I am confident I will discover I am more capable than I have ever been. I dug deep, reevaluated my annual goals, and I decided…

Can Your Favorite Repetitive Song Help You Access Your Inspiration? – Daily Quote

Jo Hawk

Songs of different moods are like keys, which help me enter the world of my book's characters. Amish Tripathi

I had an English teacher who taught grammar with song lyrics. She used printed copies and had the class parse the stanzas while the songs played in the classroom. Grammar was never my favorite subject, but identifying parts of speech to popular tunes was not unpleasant.

Many studies suggest listening to music aids divergent thinking. It is a technique that uses free-flowing thoughts to generate ideas and solutions in a short time. One study reported that replaying a song multiple times blocks mind wandering and increases focus. Other benefits include reducing stress, improving sleep, reducing symptoms of depression, and raising IQ and academic performance in young children.

With that impressive list, I figured it was worth doing a few experiments. So, I queued my playlists and hit repeat as I composed stories. The results surprised me. While not scientific, I noticed words and thoughts seem to flow better, social media…

You Are All You Have Got!

WordSmithWithABrush

I am willing to be seen. I am willing to speak up. I am willing to keep going. I am willing to listen to what others have to say. I am willing to go forward even when I feel alone. I am willing to go to bed each night at peace with myself. I am willing to be my biggest, best, most powerful self. –Emma Watson

On that note…

You are the only companion you will have till eternity,
Work on yourself,
Learn to love yourself the way you end up loving someone else,
You ought to learn how to stand up for yourself…

No matter how difficult it seems…
It’s often the ones you believe the most,
Who ends up making you shift to the fact that, Nobody is worth you more than you…

Stop pondering over ‘why’s’ and ‘if only’
They won’t take you anywhere…
Live in the…

It’s Only You

Walt's Writings

It’s Only You

It’s only you I want

I want to hear your voice
in my ear

Feel your hands on me

I want you to feel
what I feel for you

I want the warmth of
your skin on mine

I want to feel
your lips on mine

I want to hear those
three magic words
come out of our lips

as if in a symphony
of our hearts

Because it’s only you
