Within Our Grasp

“There is a crack in everything.
That’s how the light gets in.”
― Leonard Cohen, Selected Poems, 1956-1968
And though elusive light may swing
at times beyond our narrow sight
blurry and foggy in waning shine
we only need to remember
the glimmer is within our grasp
if we but turn from the murky darkness
to embrace the luminous glow
that lives within our brilliant minds
Written for The Sunday Muse#120
He lingers…
Please come enjoy this post!!!
He lingers nearby
On the edge of the page
The page we’re still writing
Where love continues to blossom
Unfolding ever so delicately
And he’s mesmerized
By the mind-boggling splendor
His eyes so bright
Enthusiastically consumed
With the miraculous happenings
Of what he observes
And he stays a little longer
Leaning in for a closer view
Lingering in the loveliness
Of our imperishable page
So beautifully written
Full of all the days we’ve shared
Memories of us
And the many years we’ve loved

I Miss You, It Hurts
“I gave up looking for someone who can make me laugh like you do”
i miss you because i miss myself when i am with you. i am my best self with you; i laughed the hardest, cried hopelessly, talked endlessly.
i miss our unending conversations. our silent moments. our pointless arguments.
the way you look at me. the way you make my heart melts. the way you make me smile. the way you make me realize that love is more than the poetry i write, more than where my thoughts could go and more than what “i love you” really means.
i miss you so much it hurts.
