Life’s Wine

Midwest Fantasy Writes

Through all of time

we have tasted life’s wine

richness of deep nights

sweetness of sunshine days

we drink all of it in

intoxicate ourselves with each other

savor who we are as one

If we never stop searching

for sips of divine love

every minute will be worth it

The prettiest gal in town

Be sure and read John’s Post!!!

The prettiest gal in town

A Poem by Coyote Poetry

Just words.

The prettiest gal in town
She wore her Summer dresses year around. She loved the Monterey weather and she always carry a smile to share with me.  She shared her kind words and she would listen to me.
She would sit in silence and I would read my poetry to her. We would discuss the sea, John Donne, Hemingway and Salinger. I would find her waiting and alone by the Monterey pier. Her ginger hair laying gently on her soft shoulders and being sun-kissed by the evening falling sun.
She asked me often. Why do you seek me everyday? I am not the prettiest girl you know? The pretty girls, do love you. The dark poet who demand nothing and write by the sea.
I told her. You are the prettiest gal in Monterey. Your heart of gold…

The 2020 Daily Writing Challenge – July 20

2020 Daily Writing Challenge

Writing is like driving at night in the fog.
You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
– E. L. Doctorow

Today is Day 202 of the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge.

Did you write yesterday? Half of the year is in our rear-view mirror, and I am drawing a line in the sand. The targets I missed, the stories I didn’t compose, they no longer matter. These last six months are history. Done. I won’t lie, 2020 kicked me in the head, leaving me stunned, unsteady, and incapable of completing anything beyond basic tasks. I bet I am not alone, but don’t count me out yet. They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right? I am confident I will discover I am more capable than I have ever been. I dug deep, reevaluated my annual goals, and I decided…

Your Story is A Piece of Cake – Daily Quote

Jo Hawk

A good story is better than life. It allows us access to our hero’s thoughts and motivations. While actual people often hide behind carefully crafted facades. Exciting stories don’t waste time with boring and trivial aspects of our daily routines. If a character takes a shower, you can count on a shocking development ensuing. When the antagonist confronts our beloved protagonist, our hero always has the best responses without bumbling, stutters, or searching for words. And she certainly doesn’t spend the next scene thinking of all the cutting retorts she could have said.

Well-written tales are laser-focused, they revolve around a major theme, and present a satisfying resolution, we seldom experience outside of a novel. The scenery is richer. Men are handsome, women are beautiful, and the plot pushes them along a prescribed path. It betrays the uncertainty we face. A good story resembles our favorite meal, and the crowning…

Autumn & Spring

Life is beautiful,
Just like nature…
We bloom,
Like the colorful flowers,
And fall and die,
When the time comes…

Colored and merry,
Dried and low,
Different phases of life have
Different things to show…

When the Autumn comes,
Old leaves and flowers bid adieu,
Marking the dawn of an all new life,
Comes the Spring,
With blooming flowers all around.

While you get a chance to bloom,
When it’s time to leave,
Give yourself rest and dream of the life you lived…

Be the water that flows,
Never stops,
Just goes on…

Trump’s Attack On Democracy

charles french words reading and writing

flag of america (Photo by Sharefaith on

What happened the other night in Portland, Oregon should have all Americans who believe in the Constitution, Freedom, and Democracy outraged and frightened. Please do not divert the subject by speaking about “riots”. That is an issue that is addressed by local and state authorities, not the Federal Government.  The President does not seem to care about the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

The Fourth Amendment says, “The right of the people to  be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Having Federal agents, wearing police insignia without identification of person or office arresting people without warrants and taking…

who am i

The Lonely Author

Be gentle people, it has been two months since I attempted to write poetry. There is plenty of rust.

who am i

who are you
her reflection sighs
fogging the mirror
before I can steal a kiss

who am I
the mist dissipates
revealing a garden forgotten
a mirror image of me
two flowers of dark love
sowed in solitude

I soil my face with jasmines
her scent whispers to me
you are my soul
I am the air that you breathe
