I Left My Heart in San Francisco

Come see the beauty of San Francisco in Jane’s photos!

I Left My Heart In San Francisco

The loveliness of Paris seems somehow sadly gray
The glory that was Rome is of another day
I’ve been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan
I’m going home to my city by the Bay

I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me
To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars
The morning fog may chill the air, I don’t care

My love waits there in San Francisco
Above the blue and windy sea
When I come home to you, San Francisco
Your golden sun will shine for me

Truth Telling

Roth Poetry

EER_0237 (2)

Art is often unappreciated till the artist is long dead.
By then a new generation who reads and hears
or looks and sees values the beauty others missed.

Artists paint and poets write their understanding of truth
in hopes that it will resonate with another soul.
Words bring light in a dark night of disillusionment.

Truth is often ignored, denied, or rejected
So we wrap it in enticing words that draw you in
then lay it out with arrows that gently pierce your soul;
Hoping that a few will stick long enough to make a difference.

~Dwight L. Roth`

This sums up why we write and create art…

Posterity may even, will likely even, forget us entirely. And yet, we are writing. And we are, for the purposes of this discussion at least, thinking about writing something of immediate force that might remain…

Saturday Mix – Double Take, 25 April 2020

Keep it alive

Sarah is the host of Saturday Mix

Welcome to the Saturday Mix, 25 April 2020!

This week we are seeing double with ‘Double Take’.

profit– money earned
prophet– seer

rest– stop working
wrest– take away

The prophets today are all fake

They would change their prophecies for profit

People are naive and trust them blindly

Never thinking with their own minds

Taking the word of others as the truth

Even when their values are wrested away by force

They offer up the rest with their own free will

In the Comfort of Quiet

The Girl With The Scorpion Tattoo

Photo by Astro Wizard on Pexels.com

That last red leaf floated in the air

Like a tiny feather crumbled under my hair

In an ember sun glow over autumn melancholy dwell

Like a warm day with browns and quilt in a spell

Oh Autumn, where have thou been?

Like those hope in their decays, keen

Faded in their wrinkled colours have they,

Lost in a bundle of hays —

Left a trail of withered leaves behind my shadow

Seems forever to catch up the blinking lights,

Spread on a dark canvas of whispering nights

Enveloped by a gentle comfort to wander our souls in silence

Lingering our minds to our thoughts, our words and actions

To the wind to the waves to the universe to our breaths

How wonderful is in comfort of quietness wrapped around in morning mystic dews

Or at late nights with warm

don’t stay for rainbows and butterflies and stars
stay even for the thunderstorms and the waves and the hurricanes

don’t stay for the smiles and the laugthers and the joys
stay even for the tears and sorrows and tribulations

don’t stay for the love and the care and the understanding
stay even for the indifference and the hate and the outrage

don’t stay for the beauty and the cheerfulness and the charm
stay even for the ugliness and the dejected and the hideous

just stay for  whatever whys

Inspired by a recent poem of Gina https://alifelesslivedblog.wordpress.com/2020/04/26/all-worthwhile-poetry/ it hit me the hardest and i can’t get my chest off the line
” stay no matter why”. It is sad that some people choose to be with us or to stay with us only for the good reasons and only for the best that you are. When you hit rock bottom…
