Clamped At Last


The heart sang a song or two,
the emotions may have hummed it too,
the soul leaped with blithe and joy,
the charms rattled some obnoxious decoy,

and then the eyes met
and the flower bloomed,
love it was
but words failed to reckon
for societal norms clamped down the two
