NOW

REMEMBER WHEN I SHOOK YOUR HAND,

OR HUGGED YOU AT THE DOOR,

WE CLINKED OUR GLASSES AND DRANK CHAMPAGNE,

AND SHARED A CAKE EACH MORN.

I TOUCHED YOUR HAND TO EASE THE PAIN,

AND WIPED AWAY A TEAR.

I WRESTLED WITH YOUR LITTLE ONE,

THEN KISSED HER SMALL SCRAPED EAR.

WE SAT TOGETHER ON THE COUCH

 AND WHISPERED SECRET WORDS,

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE WORLD WOULD TURN,

SO THIS COULD NOT OCCUR.

NOW I STAND AWAY FROM YOU,

AND BLOW A KISS YOU CATCH.

OUR EYES SHOW OUR FRIENDLY FEELS,

WE ROLL THEM WITH SUCH ZEAL.

WILL WE FORGET TO LOVE AS MUCH?

WILL WE FORGET TO FEEL?

WILL WE SAY “REMEMBER WHEN”,

OUR LIFE WAS FULL OF TOUCH.
