  1. How are you sharing my posts when the share option has been disabled? Please let me know, I’m finding it a bit disturbing (not you) that I am not allowing sharing yet you are able to share them, which would mean others can as well. Thanks bunches and thank you for liking my posts enough to want to share them. ❤

    1. Well, I’m sorry if you didn’t want your words/poems/post shared!! Since you are posting this for all WordPress community members to read I didn’t think having my followers read work from your blog would be a problem as many followers actually follow authors I share. There are quite a few blogs that haven’t selected the reblog option but don’t mind having their works shared!!

Just curious as to the reason you don’t want your words/poems/posts shared to the largest audience possible?? I am happy to share with you how – it is called the “Press This” widget, see WordPress.com tutorial. Not sure if you can block that or not. What it does is capture the webpage and makes it available to post – that’s about all I know!

Some people are under the false impression that posting on WordPress.com is not the same as having their works “Published” in the traditonal sense – however, that is not true. The publishing industry and for copyright purposes posting on WordPress is legally publishing and book publishers will usually not take works that have been published. They want unpublished works.

If you are worried about someone stealing your work the reblog shows the original author andl iinks back to your blog. If someone likes your work enough to want to steal it they can just copy it from your site? So, not sure what your concerns are with reblogs or press this sharing, but I will be happy to cease and desist if you don’t want your work shared. No worries. But if you don’t mind sharing, I would love to know why you don’t want too and what you are trying to accomplish by not allowing reblogs/sharing??

      Great post!!

      1. Hmm, thank you for bringing this to my attention love. I assumed that by not including a share button that there was no way to share my pages – also included in my content disclaimer on each page. Why in the world would WordPress give you the option to not choose the share button and then produce a widget that allows people to share it anyway? I’m going to look into this. Thank you for the information love. 💗

As for my reasons why, well unlike you – years ago, many were sharing my art or words without a mention and link back to me, using it as their own, which is when I stopped allowing sharing. As we all know, it’s pretty easy to copy and take things off the Net; however, with the share option gone it caused extra steps to be taken, which stopped a few of them. With the option (widget) you’re using I’m not even being notified that you shared my post, which I don’t like at all. You personally are a lovely person and I’m honored that you wanted to share a few of my expressions (thank you), but sadly not are all as beautiful and honest, or with good intentions, as you are. That widget is allowing people to share a part of myself that’s a deep part of myself without notifying me who or where. The only reason I realized you had shared a few (again – I think you’re lovely and I feel honored) is because I couldn’t find one of my old posts in the reader so I searched myself and that’s where it showed me your shares of a few of mine – if I hadn’t done that I never would have known. NOT at all intended for you – that’s like having a book you wrote taken from you without your knowledge, that’s quite wrong (NOT you love – that ability, and without the content writer being notified).

Again, thank you for not only giving me this knowledge that I now have to go look into or possibly contact WP about, but as much, possibly more, for the honor of you wishing to share a few of my inner layers. 💗

        1. Well, Dear I certainly understand your feelings based on your past experiences, for sure. Especially, on the art work. It is a personal decision each person has to make. As I mentioned, if someone really wants to steal from you or anyone they seem to find a way. The reblog does provide information about the work being authored by you and it directs the reader to your blog with your copyright so for me it doesn’t seem to be much different than them being directed to my blog, which for me is a good thing. If you use the “Read More” function on the post page it will truncate the post to the spot where you insert it and then they have to come to your blog to read the whole post. This is also good for your regular posts as it forces readers to click on the “read more” button to finish something they like. It helps your stats and helps get followers.

Please let me know if you don’t want me to share your work/posts so I know if you want me to stop or not. Thanks so much! And Thanks so much for all you do with Natalie’s posts!! Such an Angel!!

          1. No dearheart – with you I’m absolutely okay with it. You do it with good and kind intent and in the proper way; however I did get into support with WP today with a very strong and critical suggestion. All users should be notified when any of their posts are shared. Without being notified, regardless of how it’s shared, a user/person/being has absolutely no way of knowing if it’s being shared appropriately. I’m honored that you shared them and I thank you – my issue is with WP, not you and I thank you so very much for giving me the widget information. 🥰

          1. HA! I’m a tenacious lil bugga. 😊 I ended up actually getting help with something else I needed that I had forgotten about. However, I did make a very loud fuss regarding the sharing by anyone, anywhere, without a notification going out to the original poster, and I’ll continue to “bugga” them about that. I think all users should, that’s a basic notification and quite an important one. If I go at this alone… in the least I’ll keep them earning their income hehe. 😎

    2. You crack me up, Girl!! Ha! I’m the same way. I learned long ago that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you don’t ask, you don’t get and the worst they can tell you is no!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been able to turn things around by just pursuing something! Stick with it. I agree with you on getting notified. Yes, well i”ve made them earn their income too. Stumped them too.
Hope you have a great day, Be Safe!
