Today is Day 54 of the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge.
Did you write yesterday? If you didn’t, what stopped you? Self-doubt can leave you feeling like a deer in the headlights, petrified, off-balance, and powerless. Instead of using your precious minutes to type even a handful of words on the page, you allow yourself to be distracted.
Perhaps you stare at a blank screen, convinced your work recounts an incoherent trip along a winding road leading you nowhere. Your vivid imagination has forsaken you, leaving you in a void of uninspired darkness. You suspect you are a fraud who will never be good enough.

and all she hopes to be,
she’s still fighting.”
For all that was lost, all that was found, and all she ever hopes to come, she knows how to live. How to survive. How to outlast her demons. How to thrive to the best of her ability. For everything she never had, for everything she will never have, and for what she has accomplished, she’s still grateful for all the strength she’s gained. She’s still fighting. She doesn’t know how to surrender. Because a warrior’s blood flows in her veins.

She is the part of us
that wants to keep breathing.
And she won’t go down
without a fight.
Time to change the subject. Let’s talk about happy things. Let me live, love, and laugh with you. That is the healing power I need.
the faith i bleed
along the path of oblivion
where fallen angels dare not cross
I was drenched in loneliness
thirsting for her love
suffocating in darkness
I inhaled her words
her poetry became my gospel
unkissed lips my sin
she is my religion
a temple of metaphors
the reason I breathe
she is the great resuscitator
restoring the faith I bleed

What is a distance,
how is it measured,
in streams crossed
or in dreams?
But at least there I can
begin the journey proper
for which my body is willing,
a place where I can
take that leap of faith
into the unconscious.
I could reach the moon,
that part is so simple.
But can I reach into my
deepest self,
the hidden, denied part,
so cleverly recast
as the outer self,
a sweet deception,
a lie that must be unravelled,
the greater distance.
