Love is a paradox

Apple Rae

You make me feel safe everytime my skin gets touched by you.

Paradoxically however, you can also make me feel scared about what the future might bring.

We both know how crazy we became—from the time our eyes locked, we became insane.

Oblivious of the real world, unaware of the odds despite its sheer clarity.

It’s just so vivid to me—that we can’t be together tomorrow, that today is our last day.

That there really should be no happy in an ending. Because there’s no such thing as you and me, in this world full of rules and tragedy.

But how can you do this to me? You created a language only our hearts can utterly elucidate. It’s now making me hard to concentrate—can’t think of nothing else, but the now that we have that i will never forsake.

It’s merely now but no tomorrow. Just today so let’s make…

A Winged Bird

House of Heart

I can scarcely bear the splendor of the world.

It’s wonder humbles the wisp that is me.

Minutiae of eyes and speechless tongue

astounded by the promise of a sunrise.

Elegant trees lift their mottled arms

flecked with leaves of gold and green

an ancient cache of living things

To be a winged bearer of no possessions

a flicker of color in the highest tree.

Confab With Me

And what is life without your smile and even if I try to survive without your simper your fragrance brings back from the yore a miscreant thought that confirms again, what is life without your smile

VJs Weekly Challenge – Product Placement

“Now, product placement, whichever way you look at it …. it’s what it is.”  Daniel Craig

Therefore I Am

So carefully placed as to catch your ego,
normalising, vindicating, validating,
for the lost and lonely
who need a sign
from the prophets of
inspired mammon
in red and white,
or sleek carbon black,
it makes a difference to
those starving for identity
who, in the end, become
the product placed.

The 2020 Daily Writing Challenge – February 13

Jo Hawk

2020 Daily Writing Challenge

Writing is like driving at night in the fog.
You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.
– E. L. Doctorow

Today is Day 44 of the 2020 Daily Writing Challenge.

Did you write yesterday? If you didn’t, what stopped you? Self-doubt can leave you feeling like a deer in the headlights, petrified, off-balance, and powerless. Instead of using your precious minutes to type even a handful of words on the page, you allow yourself to be distracted.

Perhaps you stare at a blank screen, convinced your work recounts an incoherent trip along a winding road leading you nowhere. Your vivid imagination has forsaken you, leaving you in a void of uninspired darkness. You suspect you are a fraud who will never be good enough.

Breathe. Think about the adventure you want your audience to experience, explore your plot, meet…

Training Like an Elite Athlete Without Breaking a Sweat – Daily Quote

Jo Hawk

healthy-breaks-can-hit-the-reset-button-in-your-brain-restoring-some-of-the-glucose-and-other-metabolic-nutrients-used-up-with-deep-thought.-a-healthy-break-is-one-in-which-you-allow-you.

It has been a succession of endless, busy days. Work deadlines required late nights, early mornings, and the effort has left my batteries drained. During the week, I pause every 52 minutes, but you can’t sustain that pace for long. I need less thinking, fewer decisions, and a breather. I recognized the signs. I’ve noticed my lack of energy, lack of motivation, and my “fuzzy-headed” inability to concentrate.

My poor prefrontal cortex is sending me messages, and I ignore them at the peril of sacrificing productivity. Scientists have identified this region as the center responsible for decision-making, problem-solving, and performance management. I have learned downtime is just as important as working hard. Elite athletes know the importance of recovery days. They are scheduled rests slotted between periods of intense training. It is time for a relaxing cup of tea, a blazing fire in the fireplace, a good book, and perhaps…

Be in love

Savvy Raj

When you are in love…

Love makes you hear music, you have never heard before,
Love makes your steps look like a dance.
Love makes your heart flutter in abandon.
Love makes you see the truth of beauty in the ordinary.
Love is the gift of grace from your soul.

Be in love. Be in love
With yourself and the world around.
And make both a better place to be in.

Be in love with life…

Live life lovingly!

On Love, Death, and Hurricanes

Charmed Chaos

Hurricane

I’m sorry I woke you up
in the middle of the night to eat ice cream,
but the hurricane is here and now the power is out
and I don’t know what to do with all the food,
it’s going to rot and start to smell
please wake up now
there’s not one single ice cube to be had
to cool a glass of sweet tea
what I wouldn’t give
for an ice cold glass of tea right now,
with the outside of the glass
sweating in the oppressive humid air
or hell, maybe a beer because
I am really stressed out
about this damn hurricane.

Death

No one lives after taking 20 hits of acid
but you did and I watched over you all night
while you rambled on about nonsensical things
and worried myself sick about whether
you would live or die
you didn’t tell me
what…
