Beauty, No Beast

the ink on the nib
treated my torn heart
filled pages with afflicting words
fixing fissures which caused harm

ranting in metaphors
the outrage I wished to cause
smearing blank pages with red
like his blood on the marble floor

alas

this beauty mistaken to be a beast
is a self made figure of nobility
afraid be you, as her sword is a pen
will pierce your veins, till you fully comprehend

Friday Favorites-The Mad Chatter

Penny Wilson Writes

Welcome to another Friday Favorite! Each week, I’ll bring you information about a blog/blogger that I follow and why they are a favorite of mine.  This week, I’d like to introduce you to The Mad Chatter. Be sure to visit her blog and it may become a favorite of yours too!

I think that The Mad Chatter (Jessica) is a fairly new friend/blogger of mine.  I’m not sure exactly how or why we connected, but I’m sure glad that we did.  Jessica isn’t afraid to poke a little fun at herself, while getting her points across.  She’s an advocate for Mental Health issues and ending those stigmas.  These are just a few reasons why I enjoy her blog.

Like mine, The Mad Chatter’s blog is quite varied.  She writes what she wants to write and posts what she wants to post.  As it Should Be!! I love HER POST

Seasons of Nature: A Collection of Poems #NewBook #eBook #Amazon #PreRelease #Self-Published

Poems for Warriors

Seasons of Nature_cover

Big news blog friends! My latest poetry collection, Seasons of Nature, is complete!

The eBook version is available to pre-order NOW on Amazon! This collection contains over 100 poems, some of which are brand new and never before published!

Many of the poems in my book I have published here on my blog in the past year, and because of all of your wonderful support and love and encouragement, I have now been able to put them all into a single, organized book of poetry.

As you might have surmised from the title, the book is focused on the natural (and supernatural) world around us. It is a collection of poems I wrote on hikes, climbing mountains, and looking out my window at the ever-changing world that surrounds us all the time. What I found most interesting in my musings is how much the outside world oftentimes reflects our inside…

“That which we do not bring to consciousness appears in our lives as fate.”  Carl Jung

Shadowland

His inner demons held him in fear and mistrust,
but he dressed them as acceptable monsters
all hidden in the light, but they made their own
spectacular way to the surface of his unaware life
becoming his cruel and real destiny.

“For this tired old man that we elected king… The lawyers clean up all details”

Art of Quotation

O’ beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They’re beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we’ve been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie

Song quote, The End of The Innocence by Don Henley, 1989

“The End Of The Innocence”

Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn’t have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standin’ by
But “happily ever after” fails
And we’ve been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers dwell on small details
Since daddy had to fly
But I know a place where we can go
That’s still untouched by men
We’ll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waves in the wind
You can lay your head back…
