Phoebe (PMU) is a wonderful artist/doodler who caught my eye back in late 2017 when I first became a part of the WP community. I always look forward to seeing the new creations she publishes on her blog –The Daily Doodle.
This artwork struck me as being so warm and inviting reinforcing the message of the words. I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

The room was so still so late,
nothing and no one
a stirring not,
though midst my typing
a shadow passing
persisting time and again
through the snores of the house,
a presence behind me
not malevolent at all,
simply lost and locked,
needing to find a way home,
a letting go,
a moving on,
saying farewell to what was
and embracing the door
of something else,
for my part
I offered the way
in words of love,
the best map there could be.

In continuing my series of favorite characters from books, I wanted today to explore fictional villains, those people we love to hate or who capture our imagination. They sometimes make us quake in fear and wonder about the darkness.
There are so many wonderfully written villains to draw from that the choice of my favorite is difficult. Among the many possibilities are Sauron from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings, Dracula from Bram Stoker’s novel, Dr. Hannibel Lechter from Thomas Harris’ The Silence Of The Lambs, and Claudius from Shakespeare’s Hamlet. As I mentioned, there are many other possibilities. Would it be immodest to suggest my own character Maledicus from my novel Maledicus The Investigative Paranormal Society Book 1?
My choice, however, is from the book that is one of the largest influences on me as a reader and writer, and that is Dracula!

when the heart rains…
with cloud of grief,
we know as pain…
silently falling,
against the mind…
and no space,
is enough to hide…
you know,
cause you have tried…
so you just lie,
under the moon,
and drift with the tune,
of the melancholic heart,
as it rains.
