Can’t sing in the choir
your voice is not good enough.
Can’t sit too close to me
’cause you smell too bad.
I saw you making eyes
with your neighbor’s wife
can’t have such
goings on in our church.
This is God’s house
don’t you know!

But wait, isn’t it the sinners
who need to be here?
Center front is where
they ought to be.
Don’t throw the wicked out
just ’cause they’re
hard to love
for God loves sinners, too
or else He wouldn’t love
you and me.

Solitude: A road to stillness?

AN ARTIST’S RELATION TO SOLITUDE
An artist must make time for the long periods of solitude
Solitude is extremely important
Away from home
Away from the studio
Away from family
Away from friends
An artist should stay for long periods of time at waterfalls
An artist should stay for long periods of time at exploding volcanoes
An artist should stay for long periods of time looking at fast-running rivers
An artist should stay for long periods of time looking at the horizon where the ocean and sky meet
An artist should stay for long periods of time looking at the stars in the night sky

Daily Prompts- The chores never end.

Keep it alive

The smoke from the chimney rising in the cloud air. Children were playing in the snow. Flowers were buried under a layer of snow. Sam turned up the dial of the thermostat before she went out to call the kids in. Bruno came in before the kids had even moved bringing muddy paws and making the kitchen floor dirty. Sam suppressed her annoyance and asked her eldest to take a towel and wipe Bruno’s paws and the floor. Mike loved his dog and did all his mom asked so that Bruno wasn’t send to the corner.

When he got the cleaning liquid for the floor, it smelled strange. He looked at the use by date and called out to his mom, ” Hey mom this is expired”

Mom took a look and confirmed it, and told Mike to just use the towel.
