Something about you

A Faded Romantic's Notebook

There is something

about you

a quality

an intelligence

a wit

a generosity

of spirit

even more compelling

even more adorable

even more desirable

than the exquisite beauty

of your bone

and muscle

and of your hair

and skin.

I Am Thankful ~ A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

Walt's Writings

On this Thanksgiving Day
November 28, 2019
I am especially thankful for my wife Susan
Our sons, Kevin, Jarrod and Nathan
Our daughters in law, Melanie and Alyssa
Our grandsons, Cayden, Harrison and Holden
And our 10 rescue dogs and our horse Teaka
When I first started Walt’s Writings 21 months ago
I had no idea that I would ever
Have published almost 1100 poems
With over 1600 followers
Published in 3 different online poetry journals
Or had a poem chosen to be included
In an upcoming Anthology by Vita Brevis
I am so thankful for all my followers
And friends I have made here
Poetry has been a bright spot
In a very dark year for me
Poetry carries me through my chronic pain
And medical conditions
For that, I am eternally grateful
To all of my readers, “Thank You!”
I hope you have found comfort in my poetry

I’ve Heard

I Write Her

drunks tell no lies
they say
but when they’re sober
they tell no truths

liquid courage
they say
but it’s more like
real communication’s anesthesia

needs to be shared
person to person
with heads clear

otherwise, the path down liquid lane makes

hard times
get harder
direction is lost
focus gone

and the urge
to share
what needs to be said
just adds up to a larger tab

The Best Holiday of the Year – Daily Quote

Jo Hawk

What I love about Thanksgiving is that it's purely about getting together with friends or family and enjoying food. It's really for everybody, and it doesn't matter where you're from. Daniel Humma heading

I look forward to Thanksgiving every year. It is my favorite holiday because it offers something for everyone. Personally, I love The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and will let others indulge in the plethora of football games, turkey trots, and tv marathons. I wait with my basting spoon, for the annual turkey pardoning, a tradition that tickles my funny bone. And I am thrilled I don’t have to worry about buying presents for anyone. A warm house filled with wonderful aromas, cherished friends, and a loving family is a priceless gift.

Then there is the constant chaos of the kitchen party. As we prepare the food, we fill wine glasses without regard to the time. We sample the fixings and trade family secrets along with family recipes. In due course, dinner is served. There is nothing like a heaping plate full of creamy mashed potatoes, succulent turkey, stuffing, green beans, and…
