I carved myself a window

Chiseled away the hardened earth

Just in time to catch the light

Of a fiery sun’s rebirth

Orange painted clouds rejoiced

As the rays chased away the night

Flocks of feathered creatures

Took off, on a journey, aflight

As for me, I sat in awe and wonder

Watching, as day took its place

And colored my eyes with majesty

All this, through my own little space

Miss Pink Petunia

Miss Pink Petunia found a place to grow tender roots
nestled safe
in a pebbled crumbling sidewalk crack
ever persevering, she avoided heavy boots.

Though no one reassured or even believed,
Petunia bathed
in refreshing rains of spring

The One For Me

“And out of everyone else in this world,
I know you’re the one for me.”

In moments like this, when we’re beneath the stars, looking at the same moon and mapping out the constellations, I’m reminded of you. Of us. I know, out of everyone else in this world, you understand me. You are the one that hears my voice. Not just my words, but everything in between. You hear the pauses, those moments when I’m most vulnerable. Those moments when I’m afraid about what the future will bring. But most of all, I wonder if you can hear how much I love you. And out of everyone else in this world, I know you’re the one for me.
