If Wishes Came True

Sgeoil

floating seeds

I think of all the wishes
cast upon a starry night
or floating on a summer breeze
a dandelion promise please
candles blown on your special day
wishbones saved for times gone astray
fountains of hope tossed by your coins
all the imperceptible wishes
sailing out upon the universe
and if they ever did come true,
what a different world this would be

Squeezing in Reading Time and Planning A Dream – Daily Quote

I am a voracious reader. My preferred reading style is consuming books, from start to finish, in a single sitting. I’ve never possessed the required discipline, or desire, to limit myself to a chapter before laying the book aside. Perhaps I’m impatient. Books in a series present the same challenges as a marathon. If I plan and schedule, I can finish trilogies over a weekend.

The pace is not sustainable if you have multiple interests. The result is my reading takes on a seasonal feel. There are definite periods when my reading list shrinks perceptively, and seasons when it stagnates. Exploring unknown worlds, discovering captivating facts and entertaining controversial viewpoints is part of who I am.

Winter is here. Snow covers the ground and daylight fades early. A soft blanket, a comfy chair, and a roaring fire help keep me warm. This weekend, I am indulging in a reading marathon…

“the President’s attack on the media is the greatest threat to our democracy in my lifetime. When you undermine the people’s right to a free press… you threaten the Constitution and all for which it stands.”

Art of Quotation

AUSTIN, Texas – Once the longest-serving Navy SEAL on active duty, Adm. William McRaven played a key role in thousands of dangerous missions abroad, including commanding the one that cost Osama bin Laden his life.

McRaven, who is retired, warns that the greatest threat to American democracy he’s seen during his decades in national security comes not from a rogue regime or a terrorist group but from the caustic rhetoric of President Donald Trump.

“I stand by my comment that the President’s attack on the media is the greatest threat to our democracy in my lifetime. When you undermine the people’s right to a free press and freedom of speech and expression, then you threaten the Constitution and all for which it stands.”

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Gratia Participo

Moments inhabit our togetheredness
all that has gone before of
memory skin
familiar senses
looking deeply into soul
where a certain light shines,
a resonance, reflection,
knowing the other,
moving,
never captive to yesterday,
emerging,
ever thankful
for the new day.

Note: see how the Latin carries the purity of thankfulness as a verb form, it is something that we do.
