Life Box – Quote of the day
GOOD MORNING… a poem

Silhouetted against a backdrop of amber
The burnt-orange sky bursts into life
Morning breaks in a moment that takes your breath away
Crater Lake Blue
“A certain blue enters your soul.”
~Henri Matisse
Crater Lake was formed 7,700 years ago when a massive volcanic eruption left a deep basin where a mountain peak once stood. Centuries of rain and snow filled the basin forming a deep blue lake whose waters are of unmatched color and clarity. It’s the deepest lake in the United States.
~National Park Service
“National parks are the best idea we ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic, they reflect us at our best rather than our worst.”
~Wallace Stegner
The Devil’s Challenge ~ Reprise Of A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet
I am being admitted to the hospital today for a
cardioversion to get my heart back in normal
rhythm. I will be released on Wednesday. That’s
the reason for this reprise.

“I’m looking for the Tennessee Poet
And he better come talk to me”
So I saddled up and found her
Waiting at the old oak tree
“I’ve heard your poetry can’t be beat”
She laughed as she said to me
“I’ve come here to challenge you
‘Cause I’m the only one
There’s no way you can beat me
So saddle up and ride on home”
I smiled and looked her in the eye
“Your time has come and gone”
I said to her
“It’s you who’s going home”
She started spouting poems
Using words I’d never heard
There was no rhyme…

here comes gravity
here comes gravity
blue dress half way up her thigh
she holds my universe together
she brings the light from the stars
and the rain from the sky
she makes the ocean’s tide fall and rise
she paints the painted dessert
with her infinite sunset
on a day like this I can see forever
when I can see the future
in her smile
here comes gravity
blue dress half way up her thigh
with a snake-like movement of her hips
she sheds her angel skin
she can take me down any time she wants
that’s the law of gravity
