From Training Wheels to Success – Daily Quote

as-long-as-you-keep-going-youll-keep-getting-better.-and-as-you-get-better-you-gain-more-confidence.-that-alone-is-success.-tamara-taylor-

Learning a new skill can be an exciting and terrifying experience. There are new skills to learn, a new lingo to speak and a huge expectation to succeed. We can feel like a kid learning to ride a two-wheeler, fearing falls, scraped knees, and broken bones. Half the battle with learning to ride a bike is gaining the confidence you can defy gravity.

There are tricks to help us succeed. The first trick is to set ourselves up for success. Setting small attainable goals and building on a track record of success puts us in the right mindset to attempt more difficult challenges. Give yourself a set of training wheels and then get on your bike and practice every day.

Have you set yourself up to succeed?

Am I Already Gone?

Brave & Reckless

in my deep hidden places
worry sprouts and grows
that I have already given in to
complacency
unconsciously surrendered to
ordinary
stopped tending my fire
dimmed my light
let my beautiful
sharp
truths
blow away in the wind
torn up pieces of paper
fluttering always just a little
out of my reach

HUMILITY (a poem)

Katie Kay

a humble spirit
is a spirit
psalmody

as it requires
sweet modesty,
sour honesty

the humble one
lowers his back
to carry another

and opens his door
to shield the alien
searching for cover

humility
is a virtue
from the cosmos

and yet sometimes
not even the stars
value its glow

HUMILITAS

thequality or condition of beinghumble; modestopinion or estimate of one’sownimportance, rank, etc

Psalmody? What the heck does that even mean? To be honest I started this poem out with this following stanza:

a humble spirit
is a spirit
to emulate

While this is true, the rhyme scheme of the poem kind of took off in later stanzas, and I needed a word that rhymes with honesty. While psalmody doesn’t really rhyme, it came from a list of pseudo rhymes, and I was like, “What does that even mean, and how would it…

A Dream

Confab With Me

With the soul of a 5 year old,
carefree,
away from the worldly pleasures, worries and needs,
where happiness is a heartfelt smile,
no grudge to keep,
no prejudice to sweat blood on
let me liberate to freedom
from the cages of
this ostentatious life

elleguyence

it’s the heat of the summer
and there’s this weight upon my sunburnt shoulder
to get everything done
cross off the to-do
the days are warmer but I don’t feel
lighter

the grace of remaining calm
when you swore things were falling apart
I’ve learned that success is in beachfront bike rides
in strawberry sorbet
in the sweat dripping down my spine

perhaps being successful is an everyday occurrence
maybe not all sweat and tears, need tears

Hi everyone! Hope your summers are going perfectly. I’ve been toying with an idea and wanted to run it past you.
