So I Sleep

Go Dog Go Café

“Darkness came, full of moths and beetles. I was oppressed by the velvety emptiness of the word and swathes of soft grass. Then the fumes of the night put me to sleep.”- Laurie Lee

Night’s ink spills into my haunted garden
while torchlights flicker in the anxious wind
I sit alone sipping a glass of wine, listening
to rasping cries of lonesome crickets calling

I ponder what brought them and I to this ‘in limbo’ fate
of being forever alone yet not, crooning a mournful song
Emptiness echoes in the silence and sends my soul drifting
dreaming of you again falling in fragrant petals, and so I sleep

  1. “‘in limbo’ fate of being forever alone yet not,” this resonated with me, as did the garden, torchlights, and listening to rasping cries of lonesome crickets calling. I hope you slept and drifted peacefully. ❤ Kimberly

      1. Very much so, you’re very talented and I’m happy to have connected with you, though not so much for the reasons why … then again, she did love to do for others didn’t she? ❤
