Emancipation Blues

Of privateers, corsairs, and buccaneers,
tales of derring-do,
no justice here,
self-serving thievery
a life of plunder and pillage
under the skull and thigh bones,
their fate by the winds
was wealth,
or, execution,
nowadays a fine
with spent conviction,
that’s how democracy goes.

GREED (a poem)

Katie Kay

greed sickens me
everywhere i look

someone passes by,
just another crook

but there i am,
eyes in the mirror

and my heart drops,
things become clearer

i am guilty,
guilty as charged

chain my wrists,
sound the alarm

i open my mouth,
taste all this sin

“tread lightly, my dear,
or the devil will win.”

AVARITIA

is the inordinate or insatiable longing for material gain, be it food, money, status, or power. -Wikipedia, the source of knowledge LOL

Greed is a core flaw in our…

“I still love you. With everything I am,
my heart is always going to be yours.”

I admit, I didn’t mean it when I said I got over you. You see, a heart can’t just stop loving someone when the brain tells it that it should. My heart refused to stop beating its whispers of your name. It never stopped aching to hear your voice. It never stopped beating for you. Do you know what I’m trying to say? If I knew how to turn back time and take it all back, I would. But everything’s changed. For better or worse, these are the results of our actions. And though none of it was your fault. That weight is mine to carry.

I still love you.
With everything I am,
my heart is always
going to be yours.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday – I have a question

DoodleScribbles

Favim 2226261

Or, rather, Lelouch does:

“What do you do when there is an evil you cannot defeat by just means? Do you stain your hands with evil to destroy evil? Or do you remain steadfastly just and righteous even if it means surrendering to evil?”

Lelouch Vi Britannia

In the vein of last week’s WQW entry, Are there any questions?, here I am throwing yet another inquiry.

Just recently, I was thrown into an alternate world where a philosophical and moral battle strongly exist. The quote above is taken from the Japanese anime, Code Geass. I’ve heard of the series years ago but I never had the drive to watch it. James successfully lured me into the anime this time. No regrets. 😀

The story revolves around the Empire of Britannia who conquered Japan and now call it Area 11. Its residents lost their rights to self-govern and are…
