A study that compared women with and without fibromyalgia has confirmed, for the first time, a link between gut bacteria and the disease and its main symptoms.
Canadian researchers identified 19 species of gut bacteria that were present in varying amounts linked to individuals with fibromyalgia.
“We found,” says Amir Minerbi, of the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit at McGill University in Montreal, “that fibromyalgia and the symptoms of fibromyalgia — pain, fatigue, and cognitive difficulties — contribute more than any of the other factors to the variations we see in the microbiomes of those with the disease.”
The findings were published in the journal, Pain, which Minerbi is the first author.
“We also saw,” Minerbi adds, “that the severity of a patient’s symptoms was directly correlated with an increased presence or a more pronounced absence of certain bacteria — something which has never…

Peaceful Anarchy

Too many wars have been fought over who’s translation of which holy
book makes them the chosen people.
I say, toss the
books- live the similarities.
Don’t kill anyone.
Treat others as you
want to be treated.
Be willing to accept
the consequences of your own actions.
And above all,
Cultivate common sense.
Try that one on for
size.
Imagine a world
where everyone is so busy making sure they are living up to their own
standards, they no longer have time to persecute those around them
based on lifestyle.
My brand: Peaceful Anarchy.

12 Changes in Mindset That Can Benefit Your Physical Health #DavidDiSalvo #Forbes
Photo by William Justen de Vasconcellos on Unsplash
I read a great article today on Forbes.com about how to make some mindset changes to improve your overall health. These are some great things to consider in your everyday habits. I have summarized David DiSalvo’s article here with some of my own opinions and suggestions that I am trying.
1. Change your “vacation can wait” mindset.
The “I need a vacation…” mindset can be something that goes months if not years before we actually take one. The workplace will do just fine without you for a couple weeks. Vacations may lower risk of metabolic syndrome, a condition strongly linked to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
2. Shift your breathing focus.
Focusing more closely on our breathing comes with a list of science-backed health benefits, including lower heart rate, blood pressure, reduced stress response, and even a boosted immune system…

AFTERNOON WALK… a poem

It’s
not the same anymore
Yes,
the dry, Autumn leaves still crackle underfoot
And
Mother Nature plays her lullaby to her children
But
I have eyes with a different view these days
Lost
are these walks, hand in hand with the one I love
Gone
are the days of deep conversation
And
sitting upon the sun-soaked boulder
The
twilight years are truly upon me
And,
I miss you more than ever
This
used to be our afternoon walk
Yet,
the light of your eyes once full of life see no more
And
I am here to make my way – alone
You
are always and forever in my heart
But,
a heart that is heavy and broken
Until I see you again, my love, I will miss you

Saturday Mix-Mad About Metaphors
Pretending to be more than what he actually was
Had become gradually an obsession with him
Blowing his own trumpet was the norm
Taking credit for what others had achieved
Heaping undeserved praises on himself
Telling us all how very clever and unique he was
It all generated only one thing among his acquaintances
A complete and utter disgust for this ant posing as a giant
The prompt;
Welcome to the Saturday Mix – Mad About Metaphor, 22 June 2019!
This week we are dipping our toes into the pool of METAPHOR. Our challenge is all about the use of metaphor in our writing. You will need to use the metaphor provided in your response – which can be poetry or prose.
Our metaphor this week is:
– Blow one’s own trumpet.

A Kind Warm Smile #Poetry

A kind
Warm smile
From a stranger
In passing
At checkout
A reminder of goodness
There is so much more
To this life
So much to live
So much to do
So much to experience
All embodied
By a kind
Warm smile
