“What is Life?” (Poetry) The Word of The Day Challenge – Revel

Beckie's Mental Mess

undead-medic: “Took this while walking down my road yesterday. I’m gonna miss living here. But oh well at least the new house is only like 1000 feet up the road so I can still walk down here whenever...

“What is Life?”

(Poetry)

What is life?

Life is, some would say a test,

other’s would chime in and say it was much less.

I would have to say it’s a road,

many turns and twists

a never-ending journey

hopefully,  to revel in bliss.

Whatever life is, we all shall drift;

from one moment to the next,

just remember life is a gift…

We are born one day,

and could be taken away quite swift.

The world can be so overwhelming

compared to you; so small.

Just hold your head up high and stand up tall,

hopefully by the end of your life…

You could have said, you’ve done it all.

Getting Lost In You

Sarah Doughty

“And this. This is a reality
I never wanted to know.
Tonight, let me get lost in you.”

Sometimes I think I’ve entered some kind of alternate reality. A place where hostility and open hatred, where intimidation and superiority reign. A place where history is attempting to repeat itself. A history I was fortunate not to know beyond books, television and history lessons. A history I hoped would stay in the past. But as a Hydra does, it has spawned anew — krept up like a fog in the night. And this. This is a reality I never wanted to know. I just wish I could get lost in you and forget what’s happening in the world around me.

Is that too much to ask? Just one day of peace, from fighting my own inner demons and constant pain. One day from the craziness outside these walls.

Keep it alive

How I wish I was a witty conversationalist

People would be amused with my words

Bringing about smiles and spreading joy

Being the heart and the soul of the party

If I was witty I would be the popular friend

But I would be careful not to be cynical

Not making people the butt of my witticism

That is just unkind and selfish not desirable

But as it is, I am seldom humorous, usually serious

I try to spread wisdom, not very amusing

So I wish sometimes that I was witty!

Word of the Week – witty (adjective) – showing or characterized by quick and inventive verbal humor.synonyms – humorous, amusing, droll, funny, comical, clever, chucklesome, jocular, lively, waggish.

“I think sometimes we make the mistake of thinking leaders are born. No. Leaders are created. They’re created by…”

Art of Quotation

“I think sometimes we make the mistake of thinking leaders are born. No. Leaders are created. They’re created by the actions that they take based on what they have seen or experienced in the world. And then they have to go into their dark, hard places, their moments of vulnerability, to find the strength and the bravery to carry on the work.”
