Confab With Me

The success didn’t come to her in a day,
and you are envious of her smile today
but you fail to see
the forbearance of many sleepless nights the falls,
the stumbles,
the failures,
the disappointments,
you ignore to see them behind that glory
and assume success come to her in a whiff
and with such precarious assumption
you rest on your heels
giving a pass to exhort
and wait for success to arrive
on a golden chariot
and blame the universe for being unfair
and God for injustice

When – a poem by Paul Vincent Cannon

Delight – Word of the Day

When

When the day is perfect,
even when it’s not
and redemption is easy because
we rejoice in the ordinary,
when even elation falls short
of the truth before us
and extraordinary is
in the cracks we pass over,
the language of angels
could not speak this ecstasy,
silence is the better part
as the heart delights.

House of Heart

Without end or beginning,
in white hours I wait for you.
Near night I hunger for darkness.
Shadows of lilting swans
we plunge from cliffs of vertigo
into the gold dust of desire.
You are the hoarfrost of winter,
brilliant bursts of Autumn’s fire,
solitary eagle above the mountains.
Beneath  your wings streams
of infinity carry you to my shore.
Should you fly on to distant provinces
I will follow,
become an indigenous bird to that land.

“Dwell not on the past.  Use it to illustrate a point, then leave it behind.  Nothing really matters except what you do now in the instant of time.  From this moment onwards you can be an entirely different person, filled with love and understanding, ready with an outstretched hand, uplifted and positive in every thought and deed.”
