You move upon me
like an ocean
makes love
to the shore
soft, lapping
strong, crashing
dance between
dawn and midnight
never repeating
the same story

Not all welcoming gates are bright and pearly –
Some can seem quite harsh or dreary –
But we should not judge by the outward view –
For the welcome inside may be sincere and true
We oft view books by proverbial covers –
Prejudging the words and intentions of others –
Just remember an invitation can truly be –
As frightening for them as it is to thee
When someone invites you to their place –
Whether their doors and gates are grand or base –
A mere crack of opening may be all you need –
To create a friendship that’s true indeed

Compose, line by line,
From beginning to end
Until its finished:
Every verse, every rhyme, and
Every single drop of blood.

This is my response to Colleen’s 2019 Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 125 #SynonymsOnly.
I am excited to announce that our collaborative group is growing. We now have 11 members working together. We are inspiring each other to take action. We are motivating each other to take the next step. Working together we can do great things! We have had two articles published this week:
Intro to the blogging & blossoming series by Ashley Peterson, author of Mental Health @ Home
How a Low Carb Diet Can Ease Depression by Kimberly Smyth, author of Keto for Beginners
We posted about two of our newer members:
Nida is a writer and teacher who writes on the blog Lovelorn to create a sense of hope for those who feel disconnected with the world around them. She has been published in the anthology Austenistan.
Jo is the author of the blog The Creative PTSD Gal where she uses her creativity to manage…

Earlier this week I posted about an idea I had to form a collaborative website, a group of people who will work together to support, motivate, cross-promote and essentially help each other however we can. You can read my original post: .
As a result, there are 10 of us so far who are working together. We have created a website called the Best Life Collaborative and the site is now live, although still a work in progress. I’m still gathering information from some of the members who have been busy with other things. We’re still talking about next steps and design.
But we’re already making progress, and that’s the point.
There is still a lot to figure out, but I’m excited about collaborating. I have always felt when you commit to supporting and helping each other you can succeed at anything.
Come, see what we’re doing. In the beginning…

I have an idea. And the more I think about this idea, the more excited I get. I hope you will feel the same because I want you to join me!
For at least 15 years, maybe more, I’ve had this dream of creating my future. I was taught growing up that the “right” way to be successful was to go to college (which I paid for myself) and then get a “good” job. I have followed this path all my life. I have to say that although I don’t like my current job, and I find it infinitely frustrating at times, it is by anyone’s standards a “good” job. It’s better than good. It pays well. The benefits are great (not just hard benefits like health insurance and retirement, but also soft ones like working from home and lots of paid vacation). It’s also flexible and has allowed me…

I to look deep down inside
To
better understand
The
magic that resides herein
The

Reflecting
all the good and bad

a healthy start
There
I’d be for me to see
In the mirror of my heart
I heard the red breasted robin singing today
His melody floating on the chilly morning breeze
So my friends our blooming time is not far away
For chartreuse young leaves are budding on trees.
His melody floating on the chilly morning breeze
He sang with pure innocence and joyous delight
For chartreuse young leaves are budding on trees
And vibrant wildflowers are a beautiful sight.
He sang with pure innocence and joyous delight
The words to his lilting song I could almost hear
These vibrant wildflowers are a beautiful sight
Enjoy, rejoice and sing for spring’s hope is near!
The words to his lilting song I could almost hear
So my friends our blooming time is not far away
Enjoy, rejoice and sing for spring’s hope is near
As I heard the red breasted robin singing today.

On hope’s wings comes the new birth of a season
As green life bursts forth, a time for fresh seeding
With every turn, turn, there is profound reason
While we pause, reflecting on life, and heeding.
As green life bursts forth, a time for fresh seeding
With joy we plant luscious fruits for tomorrow
While we pause, reflecting on life and heeding
With rich dirt on our hands, we bury our sorrow.
With joy we plant luscious fruits for tomorrow
Waiting for the new sprouting seeds to flower
With rich dirt on our hands, we bury our sorrow
For spring is the time for joy and golden hours.
Waiting for the new sprouting seeds to flower
With every turn, turn, there is profound reason
For spring is the time for joy and golden hours
On hope’s wings comes the new birth of a season.
