A SPLASH OF STARS

A POEM BY KATIE GEORGE

A splash of stars hangs above

Us, a thousand mysteries

Within one glimpse.

The night is cold, and yet

The warmth within us

Could light a million fires.

The burn is slow, as the

Sky loses its stars and

Gains a billion more.

But a billion means nothing,

Not when only one person

Is more than everything.

The human heart, a quiet

And demanding organ, tells

Me to open my eyes.

Enjoy the view, it says.

You never know when you’ll

Win the chance to see it again.

AN EXPLANATION.

People don’t realize the effect they have on us. Sometimes the smallest things can leave the biggest impacts, and this poem was borne from this concept. Every interaction we have is cosmic.
