To This Day

The wolf ran past yowling and yelping,
pure terror in his eyes,
and I wondered what I might encounter ahead,
so I continued the path for a while,
till I saw you approaching my way,
and as you passed you moved your hood,
so that I glimpsed your unashamed eyes.
You fixed on me with a determined stare,
and my heart stumbled in a beat,
as I registered the sweetest pain,
then we continued our separate ways,
and though my life went on,
I can never erase that day.
Your beauty was a beauty of the painful kind,
arousing an unquenchable desire,
you still haunt me to this day,
and so I hunt for you in every crowd.

Blessings Bestowed ~ #poetry #freeverse

Night Owl Poetry - Dorinda Duclos

I’ve traveled here,
to sit, ponder
Basking in the glory
of nature
Feeling the warmth
of the sun
Soaking in the sounds
of water falling

(The rush of silence is awakening)

Freeing me, to find
my inner peace
These things,
I have somehow
Taken for granted,
Thinking they,
would always
be here for me

(Bestowed upon us from Heaven above)

And while the leaves
of the trees, provide
with their shade,
I shall always
turn my face
toward the light

(In thankful prayer for His many blessings)

Quotations on Racism

“No human race is superior; no religious faith is inferior. All collective judgments are wrong. Only racists make them”

“The contributions of African Americans, Native Americans, and immigrants throughout our nation’s history are undeniable, but the tendency to overlook their gallant efforts is pervasive and persistent.”

“Our nation was born in genocide when it embraced the doctrine that the original American, the Indian, was an inferior race. Even before there were large numbers of Negroes on our shore, the scar of racial hatred had already disfigured colonial society. From the sixteenth century forward, blood flowed in battles over racial supremacy. We are perhaps the only nation which tried as a matter of national policy to wipe out its indigenous population. Moreover, we elevated that tragic experience into a noble crusade. Indeed, even today we have not permitted ourselves to reject or…

My Life, My Love ~ A Poem By Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet

Walt's Writings

She is darkness, she is light
She is everything that’s right
When she asks me why I love her
I tell her there will never be another

When we go walking in the forest
That’s when we feel the closest
When I take her hand in mine
She understands that all is fine

We have our ups and downs
As every couple does
But we always work it through
And end up more in love

When the day is done
And we’re sitting by the fire
Our love has been renewed
And we’re once again inspired

Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife Susan!
I love you sweetheart, with all that I am!
