Dear fellow wordsmiths,
With the start of the year, I had an idea to invite you to play with words in a different way. Not a “new” way, per say, since it is a writing game that goes back to the 1920s, and I have not invented anything. But if you follow my personal blog, you might remember that we played last year, and the year before too!
The game is called Cadavre exquis, and here is how it works:
Let’s say that 3 people are playing. We’ll call them Writer1, Writer2 and (yes) Writer3. Writer1 writes the premise of a story or poem. Writer1 sends only the last sentence or line to Writer2. Writer2 continues the story or poem, using Writer1’s sentence/line as the beginning of their part. Writer2 sends their part to Writer1, who then provides Writer3 with the last sentence/line of Writer2’s work. Writer3 uses it…
