Through The Dark

Sarah Doughty

“I’ll keep trying to find my way through the dark.
Find my way back to you.”

Peace is something I’ve been searching for. Sometimes I find it, but it’s always fleeting. Perhaps it’s just me, but it feels as though I’m stuck on a turntable, unable to find my way back to where I need to be. Maybe one day, I’ll find that solace again. But until then, I’ll keep trying to find my way through the dark. Find my way back to you.

Because I know, sooner
or later, I’ll get through it.

not to wonder ~

tornadoday

rememberthis

somewhere beyond
the certainty
of one more every day
beyond the wish
that keeps my dreams awake

as kisses unforgotten
dry an ocean of my tears
for a moment
unpretending
time is lost –
you are here

wrapped in morning
promise
whispering my name –
for a moment
not to wonder
why you left
or why you came

for one more
dream remembered
in the silent swell of dawn
another sky
we lay beneath –
stars we wished
upon

. . .

Blackened Heart

Confab With Me

Her soul was grimed
covered with layers of betrayals
and her beliefs
pierced with scores of sores,
and her implored self felt
that trust and love were nothing but
brittle words scattered on the floor

She didn’t know
but somewhere down her blackened heart
love still thrived
waiting patiently to see
her share of daylight
and no grunge could eclipse her hope
and that love waited

for the clouds to erode
She called it life
and her love- a paradox of a living soul
