Out Of The Grey

My heart slipped its moorings,
and sailed to the deep grey
of lake melancholy,
where I was becalmed in a gloom,
a syrup of acedia so thick,
I couldn’t easily move.
But I’m not sure I wanted to,
perhaps I wanted to nurture the pain,
just a little,
and, just as I was
starting to feel justified,
I noticed the wind of change,
and my heart began to turn for home.
