charles french words reading and writing
These words on a page
in my little book
I’ll return to again
for another good look
As I’ll craft them and
often I’ll rearrange
for the syntax to work
from a nuance or change

Last night when I looked out my window, big wet flakes of snow were falling. Nothing stayed on the ground but this first frost killed all the hostas in my garden. I took a break from school prep today to sketch them from my kitchen window. Painted on a block of Arches Cold Press paper, 10″ x 14″.
“Words have a love for each other, a desire that culminates in poetry.”
Many have told me
That I’ve lived a full life
And I have
I have been blessed
With 74 years of living
Loving and Grieving
Learning and Growing
Winning and Losing
Writing and Rhyming
Drumming and Singing
Leading and Following
I was alive and I was free
(I still am)
Nothing could stop me
(It still can’t)
I’ve been challenged and defeated
I’ve won and I’ve lost
Through it all I kept going
I have learned
I’ve forgotten
I’ve known success
I’ve known failure
I have loved and been loved
And that, my friends, is why
I am forever young

Sunday confession
your hands slide up my thighs
a silken web
woven with desire
fingers finding
lace and soft
skin to stroke
breath and sighs, ascending
a fevered crescendo
straddled
upon your lap
questing
curious
heat
lips and breath
tangled cries
finding religion deep
within these stolen moments
