We are of the women
that came before us
whose bare soles bled like hell
that our souls might fair well,
gave birth to our freedom
mourning the death of their own.
Delivered us
from the womb of poverty
unto fertile soil of a new country,
Terra Firma waiting to be tilled
hydrated by immortal tears
swallowed over one thousand years.
They spoke in whispers,
when spoken to by men,
as scream decayed to sighs
tucked well out of sight
mortal sins not owned, sheltered
left to repent to envious men
behind a veil of hypocrisy.
The only evidence of sacrifice;
marks stretched in brail across skin
an unwritten story, so ours begins.

Heritage Series 2018
This coming weekend (Sept. 8 & 9) I’ll be participating in Art by the Lake, the annual outdoor show of the Lakeshore Association of Artists. It’s always a highlight of my September to exhibit along with 40 other artists on the scenic lakeside grounds of Stewart Hall in Pointe Claire. Every year we hope for sunny weather so we can exhibit outdoors, and it’s looking pretty good for this weekend. Hours of the show are 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, and I’ll be there both days, so drop by to say hello if you are in the Montreal area. Besides getting the chance to see lots of great art, one third of all sales from the originals we sell goes to support On Rock Community Services.

Honestly, I never feel lonely. I am often alone in a crowded room, but I never consider myself lonely. Me, myself, and I have great conversations.
This quote might better suggest writing allows us to share connections. It connects us to others with similar feelings and experiences. We are not alone. For those lonely hearts try writing, it might work.
